SPORT SPECIFIC CONDITIONING
Sport specific conditioning is simply fitness and performance training designed specifically for athletic performance enhancement. Training programs for athletic performance enhancement could include such areas as strength, speed, power, endurance, flexibility, mobility, agility, mental preparedness (including goal setting), sleep, recovery/regeneration techniques and strategies, nutrition, rehabilitation, pre-habilitation, and injury risk reduction.
A general program should include all of these components while a more specific program may only include a few, depending upon the athlete’s specific needs (based on strengths, weaknesses and/or imbalances) and the demands of the sport they participate in.
SOCCER SPECIFIC STRENGTH TRAINING
Traditionally, strength training has not played a big role in our level of soccer and most of the strength programs followed by our athletes are too general and don’t really address the specific needs. Soccer incorporates many skills and one of the most important is the ability to react efficiently to every aspect of the game. A soccer specific strength program will maximize this ability.
KZFC STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING PROGRAM Our program will have 3 components:
1. Team Baseline Evaluations
2. Metabolic Strength Training
3. Bodyweight Speed/Agility/Conditioning Training
